February 24, 2023

Suspicious Circumstances – 2:10 a.m. – 9200 block of Walker St. – A traffic collision was reportedly heard and the caller advised that the suspect was in the parking lot sitting down. La Palma Police responded and met with a Cypress Police unit and the suspect vehicle. Orange County Fire Authority was requested to respond for the subject, who had a laceration to his head. It was determined that the incident took place in Cypress’s jurisdiction. There was damaged to a fence on the property.
Traffic Hazard – 9:57 p.m. – Moody/Coyote Creek – A tree branch was in the roadway in Cerritos jurisdiction. The large branch was cleared from the road and LASO Cerritos was updated.

February 25, 2023

Traffic Collision – 10:29 a.m. – 91/Beach – A gray sedan was overturned and the driver was in the lobby of a nearby business. Medics were requested to be sent to the business. California Highway Patrol notified.
Traffic Hazard – 10:15 p.m. – La Palma/Moody – A vehicle was stopped in the left hand turn lane with its hazards on. A front tire was flat and they were attempting to change it. The tire was changed and then it was determined that the battery was dead and jumper cables were needed. Assisted.

February 26, 2023

Disturbance (Subject) – 10:56 p.m. – 5400 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – A physical fight was reported with someone bleeding. Two parties were involved, but one left prior to the arrival of police and the remaining party was uncooperative and refused to identify himself.
Petty Theft Report – 11:13 p.m. – 5400 block of La Palma Ave. – A subject reportedly took two beers after creating a problem earlier, and this time the reporting party wanted to prosecute. A citizen’s arrest form was signed and a witness positively identified the subject. A 34-year-old male was arrested for petty theft and trespassing.

February 27, 2023

Counseling – 9:43 p.m. – 7792 Walker St. (La Palma Police Department) – The reporting party was concerned due to phone calls and texts that she had received from a friend’s old telephone number and she had sent a text in reply before she knew the number had changed. The unknown subject had since sent the reporting party her address and family information. Counseled.
Counseling – 9:55 p.m. – 4900 block of La Palma Ave. – The reporting party advised that he had witnessed sexual harassment between a female and employee of the business for several months. The reporting party was concerned for the female and wanted to file a report for her and against the business owner for not handling the matter when he reported it to the staff. Advised on a civil matter.

February 28, 2023

Assault with a Deadly Weapon Report – 9:57 a.m. – 5500 block of Fresca Dr. – A subject was reportedly shot with a blow dart in the knee. The reporting party was requesting to press charges. Report taken.
Suspicious Circumstances – 5:22 p.m. – Walker/Fresca – A transient was reportedly painting the guardrail by the bridge. No prosecution was desired by the City Manager. Party advised and will comply.

March 1, 2023

Traffic Hazard – 5:21 a.m. – 91 Fwy./Orangethorpe – Tree branches were reportedly in the eastbound lanes under the 91 Freeway bridge. The branches were moved out of the roadway into the center median. The eastbound lanes were not affected. The City of Buena Park Public Works might need to do some clean-up.
Vandalism – 9:05 a.m. – 6800 block of Walker St. – Several large windows facing Walker St. were reportedly broken or cracked. Report taken.
Disturbance (Family) – 10:30 a.m. – 5500 block of Crescent Ave. – The caller’s mother reportedly pushed the caller, refused to return a credit card, and stole $300 in cash. Both parties were counseled and the credit card was returned to the owner.
