Three OC basketball teams look for one more win and a trip to state finals

Three Orange County high school basketball teams will compete in the CIF SoCal Regional finals Tuesday night, March 7 with hopes of advancing into the state championships this weekend at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

BOYS

Division II

No. 9 Pacifica Christian (26-9) at No. 3 Orange Lutheran (23-11), 7 p.m.

How they got to the finals: Pacifica Christian defeated Oxnard 60-56 on the road and Orange Lutheran topped Tesoro 51-50 in the semifinals.

Previous match-up: Pacifica Christian defeated Orange Lutheran 54-53 in the BSN Showcase in January.

What’s next: The winner of Tuesday’s final meets the winner of the Northern California final between No. 5 Vanden and No. 6 San Joaquin Memorial Saturday at 4 p.m.

GIRLS

Division V

No. 8 Marina at No. 2 San Pedro, 7 p.m.

How Marina got to finals: The Vikings defeated South Hills 62-47, in the semifinals.

What’s next: The winner moves on to the finals Friday, March 10 at 10 a.m. against the winner of the Northern California final between Fall River and Bret Harte.
