Cypress police blotter, February 26 to March 4, 2023

The items shown below are selected from the logs of the Cypress Police Department. The police blotter is not a comprehensive listing of police-related incidents in the city, and no inference of guilt is implied in showing any item in the Cypress police blotter.

February 26, 2023

 
Commercial Burglary – 11:28 p.m. – 11500 block of Knott Ave. – Police responded to a burglary alarm and observed the front window to the business had been smashed.  The emergency contact responded and was unable to determine a loss or view surveillance video footage.  Officers conducted an area check for possible witnesses and suspects and were met with negative results.
Hit and Run – 11:51 p.m. – Orange/Bloomfield – Officers were dispatched to the area regarding a possible hit and run traffic collision. Upon arrival, the victim was found to be uninjured and stated the suspect was last seen driving into the complex in Cypress. Officers located the suspect vehicle unoccupied at the intersection within the city jurisdiction.

February 27, 2023

 
Domestic Violence – 12:10 a.m. – 9300 block of Valley View St. – Officers responded to the hospital to investigate a domestic violence that occurred earlier in the evening. The victim reported her boyfriend punched and choked her after a verbal argument.  The victim sustained visible injuries on her arms, legs, back and head. There is probable cause for arrest for the subject for felony domestic violence.
Commercial Burglary – 2:06 a.m. – 4000 block of Ball Rd. – Officers responded to a burglary in progress at the listed location and arrived to the scene within two minutes.  The suspects were gone upon arrival and it did not appear they made entry through the security gates.  The suspects were described as three males wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks.  There was no loss. The owner will provide surveillance video footage.
Hit and Run (follow-up) – 2:23 p.m. – CYPD Lobby – The registered owner of the vehicle involved in the hit and run traffic collision on Sunday night came to the front lobby to give additional information. The case was ongoing.

February 28, 2023

 
Traffic Stop – 12:45 a.m. – Vista Sierra/Walker – From a traffic stop, a male subject was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Police also arrested a second male subject for possession of methamphetamine. Both were cited and released from the station.
Traffic Collision – 10:28 p.m. – 9300 block of Bloomfield – Police responded to the location regarding a single-vehicle traffic collision. Upon arrival, the vehicle was found to have collided with a no-parking sign and into the cinder block wall separating the streets. Public Works was notified of the property damage.

March 1, 2023

Arrest – 3:14 a.m. – Cerritos/Valley View – From a license plate reader hit on a stolen motorcycle, a male subject was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia, possession of a dirk or dagger and an outstanding warrant. He was booked at Orange County Jail (OCJ).
Commercial Burglary – 7:40 a.m. – 4900 block of Katella Ave. – An unknown suspect cut the lock and broke into the construction trailer and stole an iPad, Ring cameras systems and miscellaneous tools.  No suspect information. 

March 2, 2023

Pedestrian Check – 9:58 a.m. – 6200 block of Ball Rd. – From a pedestrian check, a male subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and a female subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Both were cited and released in the field.
Traffic Stop – 11:27 p.m. – Valley View/Crescent – From a traffic stop, a male subject was arrested for possession of narcotics and a dirk or dagger.  He was cited and released from the scene.

March 3, 2023

Robbery Report – 1:23 p.m. – Orange/Walker – The victim came to the lobby to report she was robbed two weeks ago at gunpoint. She had since sent the suspect money on multiple occasions out of fear due to threats. She indicated she did not originally report the crime due to threats against her family.
Arrest – 1:46 p.m. – 10900 block of Meridian Dr. – From a call for service of a subject known to shoplift, a male subjectwas arrested for possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. He was cited and released in the field.
Traffic Stop – 8:46 p.m. – 5700 block of Lincoln Ave. – From a traffic stop, a male subject was arrested for a $900K LASO warrant for fleeing a pursuing officer.  He was also arrested for dirk/dagger and false impersonation. The subject was dropped off at LASO Lakewood Jail per their request for his warrant. The other charges will be filed by way of complaint.
Traffic Stop – 11:18 p.m. – Orange/Juanita – From a traffic stop, a male subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.  He was also arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and ghost gun, ammunition, and possession of a firearm in a vehicle.  He was transported to OCJ.

March 4, 2023

Attempted Grand Theft – 1:31 a.m. – 4200 block of Via Norte – Two subjects attempted to steal the catalytic converter from the victim’s truck but were interrupted by the victim.  The suspects fled in a silver or green sedan eastbound on Via Norte. 
Stolen Vehicle Report – 1:56 p.m. – 5200 block of Lincoln Ave. – Between 3/3/23 at 8:30 p.m. and today at 11 a.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s black 2019 Hyundai Sonata. The vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.
