From June 11 to August 6, the Buena Park Library will hold its annual summer reading program for adults, teens, and children. Readers of all ages can participate by registering at buenapark.beanstack.com or by downloading the free Beanstack app, logging their reading, and entering earned raffle tickets into prize drawings. Prizes include gift cards, Nintendo Switch Lites, a book basket, Knott’s Berry Farm tickets, and more. The first day to register is June 11, and the last day to log reading and enter raffle tickets for prizes is August 6.
The library will celebrate the start of the summer reading program with a kickoff event from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, June 11. All are invited to this free event, which will feature a petting zoo, an OCFA fire truck, crafts, superheroes, caricature artists, BARK therapy dogs, and more.
In conjunction with the reading program, the library will offer several free programs throughout the summer. Programs for adults 18 years of age and older include a mini forest scene craft program at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 20; a make your own bee/butterfly pollinator bath program at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 27; and a gnome fairy garden craft program at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 11. No registration is required for these programs, but seating is limited.
Teens are invited to “Games, Paints, and Cakes” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, and “Camp Buena Park Library Party,” featuring s’mores in a cup, scrapbooking, ping pong, and games, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19. Teens are also invited to participate in “Spill the Ink: Campfire Tales,” a writing contest, from June 18-July 23.
The children’s department is offering LEGO club, family storytimes, Spanish/English bilingual storytimes, Fantabulous Friday, and special performances. Special performances will take place every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and will include magic shows, an animal show, a bubble show, and more. No registration is required for these special performances, but seating is limited.
