Two icons of reggae will share the Pacific Amphitheatre stage to perform their Grammy Award-winning hits. Buju Banton took the world by storm when he entered the scene with roaring success. His songs “Champion” and “Untold Stories” earned him critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. Stephen Marley, following in the footsteps of his father, is an eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer and musician who has hugely influenced modern reggae music with his pieces “Hey Baby” and “Break Us Apart.” Marley’s ability to blend hip-hop and soul with reggae has become a trademark of his career. HERSHEY FELDER: THE PIANO AND ME
Hershey Felder earned acclaim for his portrayals of music geniuses on stage such as Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, but for this performance, he will appear as himself to tell his own life story. The live production will cover Felder’s childhood in Montreal as the child of Hungarian and Polish immigrants all the way through to his life as a professional stage performer. The music of Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and more will serve as the soundtrack to Felder’s portrait of his life and career. Bring your own chairs and blankets to enjoy a movie under the stars with food trucks, beer, and wine. The OC Parks summer tradition is a perfect event for the whole family. Each of the screenings will feature preshow entertainment, photo opportunities, character meet and greets, and a DJ. Ever wonder what went into preserving William Shakespeare’s legacy and works? SUMMER SOUNDS CONCERT SERIES
Every summer, the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza becomes home to an all-ages concert series featuring Southern Californian artists. Each show will include food trucks and outdoor games. As the sun sets, the performances begin. The June 12 show will be “Let Love Lead–A Celebration of Black Music” presented by Electric Root. On June 19, the Afro-diasporic band Extra Ancestral will perform. The month will close out with a performance of “Brown Sugar–The D’Angelo Experience” presented by Velvet Soul on June 26.
