HERSHEY FELDER: THE PIANO AND ME
Hershey Felder earned acclaim for his portrayals of music geniuses on stage such as Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, but for this performance, he will appear as himself to tell his own life story. The live production will cover Felder’s childhood in Montreal as the child of Hungarian and Polish immigrants all the way through to his life as a professional stage performer. The music of Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and more will serve as the soundtrack to Felder’s portrait of his life and career. “THE BOOK OF WILL”
Ever wonder what went into preserving William Shakespeare’s legacy and works? This live theatrical performance, featuring a mix of comedy and drama and based on real-life events, tells the story of one man’s quest to publish his friend Shakespeare’s First Folio following his death in an effort to preserve his timeless writing. SUMMER SOUNDS CONCERT SERIES
Every summer, the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza becomes home to an all-
ages concert series featuring Southern Californian artists. Each show will include food trucks and outdoor games. As the sun sets, the performances begin. The June 12 show will be “Let Love Lead–A Celebration of Black Music” presented by Electric Root. On June 19, the Afro-diasporic band Extra Ancestral will perform. Enjoy music from across 100 years of American history in this one-night-only performance. RACHMANINOFF’S “SYMPHONY NO. 2”
Conductor Valentina Peleggi will offer an in-depth journey through Rachmaninoff’s famous “Symphony No. 2.” In addition to leading the Pacific Symphony in the performance, Peleggi will talk the audience through the piece, offering commentary on the various elements that went into creating it. Rachmaninoff was famously suffering from a horrible case of composer’s block, and this symphony was the piece he wrote as he attempted to work through it.
