Sip and Paint at Third Place in Costa Mesa brings a watercolour fundamentals class to the neighbourhood wine bar. The event is held on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at 1922 Pomona Avenue and the next one will take place June 3. Tickets are available online for $40 and include all art supplies, but not beverages. The event is open to guests 21 and older.
Led by Hamborg Academy of Art and instructed by Huntington Beach artist Chapman Hamborg, Sip and Paint is beginner-friendly and designed for guests with no prior painting experience, combining basic watercolor instruction with a relaxed, social setting.
Third Place, run by sibling duo Justin and Naomi, recently celebrated its first anniversary. During the day, the space operates as Neat Coffee before shifting into a wine bar that hosts events ranging from jazz nights to comedy shows. With indoor and outdoor seating, including a round fire pit, the space is built around gathering.
Sip and Paint “captures who we are: community driven, and an opportunity to connect with friends or strangers”, while creating a place to “connect, slow down, and enjoy being in good company,” a Third Place spokesperson told Orange Coast.
Parking is available out front, with extra spots at 695 W. 19th St. Happy hour runs before the event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with $10 off bottles. For tickets and more details, visit thirdplacecm.com or follow Third Place on Instagram.
