NEW AMERICAN FUNDING

WHY: Along with husband Rick in 2003, co-founded New American Funding, a Tustin-based mortgage lender that in recent years has been one of Orange County’s fastest-growing private companies. Company has 5,322 employees; it reported $692M in sales in 2024. Services 278,300 loans valued at $72.2B. NOTABLE: Longtime supporters of Vanguard University, which in 2023 named its business school the Patty Arvielo School of Business and Management, the first school of business in the U.S. to be named after a Latina. A surprise unveiling of the new school’s name took place for what was termed an “unsuspecting” Patty Arvielo and nearly 800 cheering students, faculty, staff and supporters—a “take your breath away” moment for the Arvielos.

IN HER WORDS: “When I was a little girl, my Mom had her housekeeping business. I’d look at her as owning her own company and saw the freedom she had from being an entrepreneur and being able to dictate her hours and the amount of work that she wanted to take on. I never saw her as somebody doing a task that some other people didn’t want to do.” —Interview on NBC News Los Angeles
