Dee and Evan Rossell met at an art show in high school. “We were both deep in the creative world, and it wasn’t long before that translated into working together too,” Dee says. They officially launched Rossell Studios in March 2025 and opened their studio in Laguna Beach. “Building Rossell Studios together has been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done,” Evan says. “Whether it’s a single custom garment, a mural on your building, creative direction for a campaign, or producing an entire event … we want to create with you.”
Tell us about some of your favorite highlights from your careers?
D: “Painting a basketball court (for Warner Bros.) was a defining moment for me. It was our first court together, and nothing fully prepares you for the scale and the challenges of something like that—but we figured it out in real time and came out the other side with a whole new level of confidence in what we could do together.”
E: “Some of my favorite moments are when we get to curate events or brand collaborations alongside other creatives we genuinely admire. There’s something special about a group of talented people all working toward one goal; it elevates everyone.”
Why did you decide to open the studio?
D: “When you’re running six to 10 projects at once, which is pretty standard for us, you need a real space to operate from. But beyond the practical side, the studio represents something bigger. It’s a place where we can do all of it under one roof—garment work, murals, creative direction, hosting other artists.”
E: “The studio feeds this desire we both have to get our hands dirty, whether that’s screen printing for a friend’s brand, building out graphic assets for a festival, touching up paintings, or mocking up murals.”
What can people expect when they come to the studio?
D: “Come ready for anything. On any given day, we could be doing embroidery, chain stitching, screen printing, distressing, or hand-painting garments. That personalization and embellishment side of things is a huge part of our DNA.
Then there’s the mural work, where we either bring a client’s existing artwork to life at scale, or we build the concept together from the ground up. We also do full creative and art direction, helping brands find their visual voice, curating talent, producing events and art shows. And I want to be clear: We work with everyone. Small brand, big brand—doesn’t matter.”
What inspires you when coming up with new designs?
D: “I pull from culture, from people, from textures and materials, from the streets, from conversations. Evan and I have always pushed each other creatively; he’ll take something in a direction I wouldn’t have considered, and it completely opens things up. And I’d like to think I do the same for him.”
E: “We’re also really inspired by collaboration itself. When you’re working alongside other creative people who are passionate about what they do, that energy bleeds into the work. There’s also something about the physical act of making—getting our hands into a project, whether it’s paint on a wall, a needle through fabric, or ink through a screen, that sparks ideas you just can’t get sitting in front of a computer.”
