ANAHEIM, Calif. (October 14. 2022) – A wildfire is one of the most unpredictable and dangerous fires that one may ever encounter. That’s why Anaheim Fire & Rescue encourages residents to be prepared in the event of a fire with Ready, Set, Go! – a community risk reduction program designed to help residents better understand the elements related to a wildfire and how to increase property protection.
With fire season a year-round reality and California’s current drought conditions, Anaheim residents are encouraged more than ever to be prepared in the event of a fire. “The Anaheim Fire and Rescue annual Ready, Set, Go! Block Party aims to bring awareness to our residents and business owners about the realities of living in a high risk wildfire area, and how to minimize that risk. We also want to provide our community with the available resources should we face a fire driven emergency.” – Fire Chief Pat, Russell. The Wildfire Preparedness Fair will be held from 10:00AM to 2:00PM on Saturday, October 15 at Anaheim Fire Station No. 10 located at 8270 E. Monte Vista Drive will be closed from Old Springs Rd. to E. Kennedy Rd.
Guests will have an opportunity to meet their firefighters, view the various trucks and equipment used to save lives and property. Anaheim Police Department will be on hand to highlight the Know Your Way program. OC Animal will share evacuation tips on small pets and large animals. We also have a special guest this year, Smokey the Bear will be onsite every half hour.
Sage Environmental Group will have baby goats on site for the public to interact and feed, during their visit they will learn how “Goat grazing is an effective and ecofriendly method of fire fuel load removal. They create defensible space downslope from homes within the wildland/urban interface. Sage works closely with fire inspectors to determine targeted grazing areas in hot zones to reduce wildfire threat.” – Sage Environmental Group
