No. 4 Santa Ana College baseball team is headed to round two of the CCCAA Southern California Regionals after exploding for 19 runs in game two of their round one matchup against No. 13 Santa Barbara City (23-19, 16-8).

The Dons will face No. 5 Palomar beginning Friday, May 13 at 2 p.m. at home. The series concludes Saturday at 1 p.m. and a third game if necessary would be played Sunday at noon.

In last week’s opening round, the Dons (31-10-1, 13-8) swept the SBCC Vaqueros with a 5-4 game one win followed by a 19-4 victory on Saturday.

In game one, Santa Ana benefitted from a solid pitching performance from Brady Ashworth (Foothill), who started and struck out five while going 7 2/3 innings before exiting with a no-decision.

Matt Schovane (Servite) and Cedrick Perez (Fountain Valley) took over from there, combining for two and a third innings with Perez recording his eighth win of the year.

The Dons got some big production from the bottom half of their lineup with Brock Denbo and Thomas Williams coming up with four hits and an RBI combined.

But when it mattered, it was Ryann Stock (Servite) who stole the show with a clutch bases-loaded walk-off single to give SAC the 5-4 game one win.

On Saturday, the Dons took that momentum and unloaded on the Vaquero pitching staff with a 20 hit, 19 run performance. SAC cruised to a game two win.

Tickets for the next round are $12 for adults and $8 for students, faculty and staff and senior citizens 60 and over children under 12.
