Work continues this week as Lakewood maintains its “smooth streets”

Lakewood has the reputation as a city that keeps its streets in top-notch condition. That means repaving streets periodically, and doing so when pavement begins to thin out and before potholes develop.

The City of Lakewood’s experienced contractor, R.J. Noble Co., will continue work this coming week repaving a major section of Candlewood St.

Portions of Ashworth St. and Castana Ave. will be repaved the week of July 18 (details below).

Residents are encouraged to find alternative routes around those areas during daytime hours.

Roadways will be fully open during evening hours.

The affected roadways and dates are:

  • Candlewood St. from Lakewood Blvd. to the western city limits (the railroad tracks at Deeboyar Ave.) from Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15. The service road on Candlewood will not be paved but will be blocked periodically for equipment operations. No work will be performed at this time on the portion of Candlewood between Fidler Ave. and Lakewood Blvd. That area will be repaved at another time in the near future, at night.
  • Ashworth St. between Bellflower Blvd. and Clark Ave. from Monday, July 18 through Tuesday, July 19.
  • Castana Ave. from South St. to Ashworth St. from Monday, July 18 through Tuesday, July 19.

Thank you to our residents for your understanding during these repaving projects as we work to keep Lakewood’s streets in excellent condition.
