Woodbridge High School’s baseball team will face San Dimas Wednesday night, April 2 at 7 in the championship game of the Ryan Lemmon Invitational capping a full day of games at the Great Park.

The game will be held in the Great Park stadium.

San Dimas (10-5) defeated Canyon 4-1, University 9-3 and Woods Cross 2-0 to reach the final. Woodbridge (13-5) defeated Woods Cross 6-3, Foothill 3-0 and Viewmont 9-0 to advance to the title game.

Villa Park faces Pacifica in the third place game at 4 p.m. in the stadium.

Woodbridge last appeared in the tournament final in 2022, losing to El Modena 7-1 under Coach Ryan Brucker. It was the only time the Warriors have been in the championship game under Brucker.

Woodbridge won the title in 2010 defeating El Modena 4-3 when the tournament was called the OC Nissan Tournament, according to former Warrior Coach Tim Murray. In 2011, the Warriors lost to Palm Desert 5-4 in the championship game, Murray added.

Records of tournament champions before 2010 were not available before publication.

The tournament has had a couple different sponsors. A spring tournament without a major sponsor was launched by Woodbridge’s baseball program around 1990 or 1991, according to Guy Lemmon, president of the Ryan Lemmon Foundation.

The Ryan Lemmon Foundation has been involved in the tournament since 1994 or 1995, Lemmon added. The name was eventually changed to the Ryan Lemmon Invitational in honor of the former Warrior baseball star, Ryan Lemmon, Guy Lemmon’s son.
