WOODBRIDGE 12, ROSARY 6: The defending Pacific Coast League champions opened league play with a victory Wednesday.

“It was a defensive battle and physical game,” said Woodbridge Coach Mark Thompson. “Rosary scored first but we sustained a long drive on the ensuing possession with Mia Thompson scoring on a sort catch and run. The second half was much of the same back and forth.

“With a few minutes left in the game, our quarterback Laney Brucker engineered another strong drive and found Mohini Schaefers in the back of the end zone to go ahead. It was a great way to kick off league play.”

Bella Contreras threw a 10-yard TD pass to Hannah Kelly for Rosary’s TD.

ESTANCIA 14, COSTA MESA 0: The Eagles (4-2) were led by quarterback Jaydin McClure, who completed 8 of 18 passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

Aisleen Avalos had seven receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown.

“Our defense led the way with five interceptions: two by Peyton Thomas, one by Kendy Osorio, one by Aisleen Avalos and one by Estephanie Lomas,” said Coach Nate Goellrich.

SAN CLEMENTE 34, PACIFICA 12: The Tritons improved their record to 4-1 overall.
