The 2025 World Series is set. The Los Angeles Dodgers will take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday in Game 1 of the Fall Classic.
Pop-culture enthusiasts have noted the two locations of the teams, which has stirred talk about a potential sequel to a rap beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
“We really have a Drake vs. Kendrick World Series,” Draft Kings Sports posted on X.
“The grand finale to the Kendrick Lamar-Drake feud will take place at the #WorldSeries,” joked sports journalist Arash Markazi.
Lamar hails from Compton, California, while Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, is famously from Toronto, Canada.
“We’re going to the big show! Get the boys a pizza and some Cokes!” Drizzy said on his Instagram Stories Monday night as he and his friends watched the final pitch of the game against the Seattle Mariners.
He then posted a photo of his famous 2021 date at Dodger Stadium with Johanna Leia, the mom of Amari Bailey. Bailey currently plays for the Iowa Wolves of the NBA G League; at the time of the date, he was playing for Sierra Canyon School alongside LeBron “Bronny” James Jr.
“World Series Bound,” the caption read.
Just last year, both Drake and Lamar fired diss tracks at each other, which led to the latter releasing the mega viral hit “Not Like Us”. That song ended up being the rally song for the Boys in Blue’s postseason run in 2024.
The song actually sparked a lawsuit from the OVO rapper, which has since been tossed out.
During last year’s series against the New York Yankees, Ice Cube performed at Dodger Stadium while Bronx’s Fat Joe hit the mic at Yankee Stadium.
It’s unclear if Lamar and Drake will follow suit by performing at their home team’s ballpark, but it would be epic for fans.
