Westminster man arrested for allegedly mudering a relative

WESTMINSTER, CA. – On Friday, November 8. 2024, at approximately 9:45 PM, police officers responded to the 8200 block of 19th Street to check the welfare of a female that had not been heard from in several days, according to the Westminster Police Department.

During the welfare check, the female was located deceased. Evidence on scene indicated that her death was the result of a homicide. Westminster police detectives along with crime scene investigators arrived and continued the investigation through the night.

A search warrant for the location was obtained and additional evidence was located. Almost immediately, a person of interest was detained and brought to the station.

As the investigation continued, the person of interest, later identified as the victim’s family member, Irving Mondragon, was taken into custody.

The motive is still under investigation.

Mondragon will be booked into Orange County Jail for PC 187(a) – Murder. There currently does not appear to be any outstanding suspects or further threat to the public.
