The First Congregational Church of Long Beach (First Church), located at 3rd & Cedar (241 Cedar Ave.) in downtown Long Beach, presents “Scandinavian Suite.” This concert by the Duo Brusch / Mikkelsen from Europe features music for violin and organ, employing First Church’s powerful 70-rank Moeller Pipe Organ. In addition to Percy Grainger’s fascinating Scandinavian Suite, the program will include other works from their Scandinavian repertoire, which has been the duo’s hallmark for years. Concert will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023.

Jochen Brusch is a professional violinist based in southern Germany. Sven-Ingvart Mikkelsen is head of the Organ Department at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Together they have performed concerts in Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, and the United States.

First Church is located in a 1914 historic landmark building and is a well-known leader in social justice and outreach initiatives, as well as being an actively open and affirming church. Designed in the Italian Renaissance style, the sanctuary can seat one thousand people, has furnishings of mahogany, and features three beautiful rose windows.

This special event is presented by First Church’s Board of Cultural Arts, and all are welcome. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 7:00 p.m. A free-will donation will be received. For more info please visit: www.firstchurchlb.org. Parking info is at: www.parklb.com
