Unwritten Law has already been having quite a year. The band played a pair of legendary homecoming shows in San Diego at the Observatory North Park to two sold-out crowds this past February – playing with family and lifelong friends, a different album in its entirety on each night.
The band also just announced last week that they will be playing with Goldfinger and Zebrahead at the Virgin Hotels’ event lawn in Las Vegas this September.
With the success of February’s full album shows, the band announced last week that they will be playing another two shows combining both albums into one evening in two different cities. They will be playing the Nile Theater in Mesa, Arizona and for you Southern Californians, the House of Blues in Anaheim.
The band got their start in the early ‘90s as a party band in Poway, CA, with a rotating list of members. The “band” would just jam at house parties, usually housed at the famous “Blue Room,” a squat house for local teen misfits and punks. The lineup was finalized when drummer Wade Youman joined forces with fellow San Diego party kid, Scott Russo on vocals.
After seeing some underground success with their first two releases, it would be their self-titled album in 1998 (popularly referred to as “The Black Album”) that really saw some traction led by “Teenage Suicide” and the radio-friendly hit, “Cailin.”

If “The Black Album” put them on people’s radar it would be their follow-up album, “Elva” that really launched them into superstardom.
“Up All Night” became a popular alt rock hit, but their single, “Seein’ Red” would become a huge hit on MTV and in regular rotation on 106.7 KROQ in the late ‘90s.

Unwritten Law (UL) will be playing both “The Black Album” and “Elva” in their entirety at the Mesa and Anaheim shows. For the House of Blues show, Unwritten Law will be joined by longtime friends Mest. Mest currently has plans to tour Arizona in late May, with a short tour of Canada following.
Also joining Unwritten Law will be ‘90s SoCal punks, Pulley. Led by the very tall and very charismatic Scott Radinsky, the band played Lucky Punks this past March and will be playing this year’s Gutterfest at the Garden Amp.
Kicking things off for the Anaheim show will be Jason Cruz and Howl. This is the solo project of Strung Out frontman, Jason Cruz.

Contrasting the melodic hardcore punk of Strung Out, Jason Cruz and Howl sounds more like outlaw western rock. The band will get the night started right.
Tickets on sale now. If San Diego was any indication, these shows will sell out, so do not wait!
