Orange Lutheran (Division 1) and El Modena (Division 2) are seeded No. 1 in their divisions for the CIF softball playoffs, it was announced Saturday.
Empire League champion Pacifica (20-2) the defending Division 1 champion, is seeded second in Division 1. Orange Lutheran (18-3) was the Trinity League champion.
Pacifica defeated Norco 15-9 in the CIF final last season. Norco is seeded third and Murrieta Mesa fourth this year.
El Modena, the Crestview League runner-up, enters the playoffs with a 19-8 record.
No other Orange County teams earned top four seeds in the other divisions.
The other top seeds are West Torrance (Division 3), Oxnard (Division 4), Palos Verdes (Division 5), Ganesha (Division 6), Oxford Academy (Division 7) and Hesperia (Division 8).
The playoffs begin with wild card games on Tuesday, April 30, First round games in all divisions are Thursday, May 2, except for Division 1, which starts Tuesday, May 7. The finals will be held at Deanna Manning Stadium on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18.
CIF playoffs are scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
El Modena opens the playoffs Thursday, hosting Grand Terrace, the No. 2 team from the Sunkist League.
Also Thursday in Division 2, South Coast League champion Tesoro (15-4) hosts Westlake, the No. 3 team from the Marmonte League and El Toro, the No 2 team from the Sea View League, hosts Gahr, the No. 2 team from the Gateway League.
In Division 3, Fullerton, the Freeway League champion, hosts Hart from the Foothill League Pacific Coast League champion Woodbridge (12-7) hosts Burroughs (21-6) at Deanna Manning Stadium. Burroughs is the No. 3 team from the Pacific League and Segerstrom, the No. 2 team from the Golden West League, plays at Agoura, the No. 2 team from the Marmonte League.
