Green Day, blink-182 & Weezer to Rule Riot Fest
April 25th, 2025 Story by Traci Turner
Riot Fest returns to Chicago this year and the headliners are amazeballs. The weekend kicks off with blink-182 on Friday, then Weezer and Jack White on Saturday, and wrapped up by Green Day on Sunday.
Coming off a very successful 2024, bLink-182 will deliver on classic and new music. Coming off a defining moment in their epic career at Coachella, Green Day is making believers of anyone who believes that music matters and it can move mountains.
Outstanding already, right? Well, some of the other acts for the weekend are Idles, Rilo Kiley, Knocked Loose, Weird Al Yankovic, Idles, Alkaline Trio, All Time Low, The Linda Lindas, a Frank Carter-led Sex Pistols, Jawbreaker, Dropkick Murphys, and Bad Religion.
The list of great bans does not end there, also included in this years sonic circus are The Pogues, Cobra Starship, James, Sparks, Hanson, The Bouncing Souls, The Damned, Inhaler, Buzzcocks, Superchunk, Helmet, Marky Ramone Plays The Ramones, The Ataris, Camper Van Beethoven, Lambrini Girls, Smoking Popes, Mac Sabbath, Shonen Knife, and Agent Orange.
And. There. Are. More. In fact, 2025 Riot Fest will feature more than 90 performers on five stages. Several of the artists – including Weezer – another band who survived and thrived in the desert at Coachella, and has a busy summer of festivals and headline shows ahead of them.
The longtime Chicago music festival with a punk and rock spin returns to Douglass Park September 19th-21st.
The three-day fest is celebrating its 20th anniversary and just inked a multi-year agreement with the Chicago Park District to remain at Douglass Park.
Another interesting aspect of this year’s event: With it being the 20th anniversary, 20 of the bands will be performing one of their respective albums in full.
Artists include Weezer (“The Blue Album”), Sex Pistols (“Never Mind the Bollocks…”), Alkaline Trio (“Maybe I’ll Catch Fire”), Bad Religion (“Suffer”), The Pogues (“Rum Sodomy & the Lash”), The Bouncing Souls (“How I Spent My Summer Vacation”), Helmet (“Betty”), The Ataris (“So Long, Astoria”), and Agent Orange (“Living in Darkness”).
In addition to music, concertgoers can enjoy carnival rides, tons of food, and lots of merch.
