Trump announces ‘100% tariff on all movies’ made outside United States

President Donald Trump made a major announcement on Monday morning regarding films made outside of the country.

In a post to Truth Social, the president said: “Our movie making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other Countries, just like stealing ‘candy from a baby.'”

He then slammed California Governor Gavin Newsom, calling him “weak and incompetent,” and referred to the significant impact on Hollywood.

“Therefore, in order to solve this long-time, never-ending problem, I will be imposing a 100% tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States,” he declared. “Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

This isn’t the first time President Trump has threatened these kinds of tariffs.

Back in May, he said that he authorized the Commerce Department and the U.S. Trade Representative to immediately begin the process of implementing this new import tax on all foreign-made films.

Further specifics or dates, however, weren’t provided.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
