TikTok users can now buy movie tickets without leaving the app

TikTok has been the place where fans can talk about movies, and now, it’s where they can buy tickets, too.

The social media platform recently unveiled a first-of-its-kind partnership with Fandango, enabling users to purchase movie tickets directly within the TikTok app.

The integration, powered by TikTok Spotlight, launches with Disney’s highly anticipated “TRON: Ares,” which opens in theaters Oct. 10.

Through the collaboration, TikTok users will see a “Get Tickets” button on movie-related in-app hubs. The feature links directly to Fandango’s ticketing flow, where fans can choose seats and complete their purchase.

TikTok says the move reflects the growing influence of its #FilmTok community, where users swap reviews, theories and behind-the-scenes clips.

Nearly half of U.S. TikTok users say they’ve discovered a new theatrical release on the app, and more than a third have been inspired to buy tickets to a film, which will be easier to do with the integration.

The integration is exclusive to “TRON: Ares” right now, but officials said they are looking forward to “bringing this experience to more titles soon.”
