Target security at Spectrum notified the Irvine Police Department that a known alcohol theft suspect was loading up a cart with alcohol.
The IPD’s Spectrum Team arrived and found the man’s car. When the suspect exited the store with his bounty of brewskis, Security contacted him, and he let the cart go. But wait, there is more….
When the suspect saw our officers, he decided to give our officers a “Rum” for their money. Even though the suspect ran, it did not distill the officer’s crime-fighting spirits!
During a search, a drone operator quickly located the suspect hiding in nearby bushes, and he was arrested. Upon search of his vehicle, officers found a virtual liquor store complete with 47 cases and bottles of alcohol. The adult beverages were tied to other stores.
It has been said beer cures what ales you, but not when it is stolen or combined with driving. Wilmer Antonio Garcia Vasquez, 40, of Corona (what are the chances), was arrested for organized retail theft, possessing stolen property, and resisting arrest. Corona is located in Riverside County.
Vasquez was transported to the Gray Bar Hotel for his efforts. While Orange County Jail has metal bars, it doesn’t have a drinking establishment…
