Lagwagon have been pioneers of the skate punk scene for three and a half decades. Getting their start in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s in Northern California, in the sleepy town of Goleta, they last graced Southern California at Punk in the Parks’ Lucky Punks festival in March.
The band recently played a tour of Japan, celebrating Lagwagon Day (May 16th, a date celebrated by punks worldwide due to their song of the same title) there.
Lagwagon fans rejoiced as the band announced they would be headlining the two-day inaugural The Days Skate and Music Fest.
Not much is known about the festival, other than it is the brainchild of skateboard and punk singer, Mike Vallely.
Vallely first became popular as an early pro skater gracing the cover of “Thrasher Magazine” in the ‘80s and ‘90s. For the past decade he has been the singer of Black Flag, along with founding guitarist Greg Ginn. Having recently resigned from that role, Vallely is focusing again on his side project, Mike V & The Rats.
The Days Skate and Music Fest will be taking place August 22nd and August 23rd at the Garden Amp in Garden Grove. Similar to Guttermouth’s Gutterfest, The Days will be taking over both rooms at the Garden Amp on both days with a stacked lineup.
Lagwagon will be playing their album “Hoss” in its entirety on the main stage Friday.

The main stage is slated to host Voodoo Glow Skulls, who last year reunited with brother and lead singer, Frank Casillas.
The main stage will also feature DFL and Bloodstains, who recently played a ripping set with Manic Hispanic at the Observatory for Cinco de Mayo.

The smaller indoor room at the Garden Amp, the Locker Room, will be headlined by OC hardcore legends, Death by Stereo. Also playing the Locker Room will be Mike V & The Rats, Urethane featuring fellow pro skater Steve Caballero on guitar, and Narcotics Division.
August 23rd will be far from “just another Saturday,” as Lagwagon will be playing “Let’s Talk About Feelings” in its entirety on the main stage. Joining them will be Orange County’s finest, Adolescents, Toxic Energy, and Mike V & The Rats will be playing double duty as they open the show.
