The City’s Economic Development Department Supports Small Businesses

The City of Irvine, in collaboration with Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (SBDC), is hosting two upcoming events to support small businesses:

  • Small Business Capital and Growth Conference: Friday, June 27, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall
  • Small Business Clinic: Thursday, August 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at University Community Center (located at 1 Beech Tree Lane, Irvine)

Small Business Capital and Growth Conference
The SBDC Small Business Capital and Growth Conference is a comprehensive, half-day event designed to equip small business owners with the tools, resources, and connections needed to grow and fund their businesses. The conference brings together key partners and experts to demystify the capital acquisition process and provide direct pathways for small business advancement.

Key Components:

  • Resource Fair: A showcase of organizations offering business support services, financial tools, and capital resources to help entrepreneurs navigate their growth journey.
  • Breakout Sessions:
    • Preparing Your Business for Growth and Capital: Topics include how to get your small business loan-ready, benchmarking and formalizing financials for scalability, and strategies to grow your business to its first million dollars.
    • Accessing Capital: Sessions will cover the range of small business loan options available, how to qualify for a business acquisition loan, and understanding which loan types best match different stages of business growth.
  • Lender Matchmaking: Facilitated networking opportunities where attendees are paired with lenders for brief, targeted conversations to explore potential financing solutions based on their business needs.
  • 1:1 Consultations: Personalized sessions with Finance Center consultants to help attendees assess financial readiness, review loan applications, and identify tailored strategies for accessing capital.

Small Business Clinic
The SBDC Small Business Clinic offers business owners a no-cost opportunity to meet one-on-one with an SBDC consultant for a 30-minute session focused on immediate needs related to marketing, operations, or financial assessment. Following the initial meeting, each participant will be paired with a primary consultant for ongoing, no-cost support to help grow and expand their business.
