The CHP has released a New Year’s Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) recap.

Over a focused two-day period, from December 31 at 6:01 PM to January 1 at 11:59 PM, the California Highway Patrol worked tirelessly to ensure everyone made it safely to their holiday destinations. Here are the results of the New Years Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP):

DUI Enforcement: 481 DUI arrests statewide, taking impaired drivers off the roads to protect all travelers.

Citations Issued: A total of 9,951 citations, including speeding, seatbelt violations, and other traffic infractions.

Enforcement Actions: 14,437 enforcement actions, highlighting the CHP’s commitment to road safety during the holidays.

The holidays should be a time of celebration, not tragedy. Let’s continue to prioritize safety and responsibility on the road.
