A major honor for actress, comedian and daytime television host Sherri Shepherd. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday morning.
Shepherd said she fulfilled a childhood dream when her star was unveiled. The Nov. 3 ceremony marked the 30th anniversary of her entertainment career.
“I want to say thank you to my family, who put up with me, who came to see me at the comedy clubs,” she said.
The host joked that her family would fly out to see her at the comedy clubs, but she’d “bomb” on the days they’d be in the audience, “but they stuck in there” and supported her by having people come to her shows.
Niecy Nash-Betts and Tyler Perry served as guest speakers during the ceremony, which was emcee’d by KOST 103.5 FM’s Ellen K.
Of course, Shepherd’s cousin, KTLA 5 Morning News Executive Producer, Marcus Smith, also attended the ceremony after a busy morning covering the Los Angeles Dodgers’ victory parade.
“Sherri, I am SO proud of you. I’ve looked up to you my whole life for your strength, your grace, your resilience, and the light you shine wherever you go,” Marcus wrote in a sweet post on Instagram. “Thank you for showing all of us what’s possible.”
Shepherd received the 2,827th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It is located on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the W Hollywood Hotel.
