Seven suspects arrested at Lakewood DUI checkpoint on March 24

On Friday, March 24, 2023, Lakewood Station conducted a DUI checkpoint in Lakewood which resulted in seven arrests. The suspects were arrested for the following charges: driving while under the influence, driving on a suspended license, driving without a license, and one suspect was arrested for failing to comply with a lawful order at a DUI checkpoint.

The DUI checkpoint was held on Carson Steet near Watson Plaza Drive. The checkpoint ran from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
