Orange County businessman Scott Baugh will run for Congress in California’s 47th District in 2024. Baugh, fresh off one of the toughest and closest races in the country, has a campaign and fundraising organization in place and an enthusiastic volunteer base ready to work hard to win the seat.
In November, Baugh forced radical Congresswoman Katie Porter to spend $28 million to barely win reelection, holding her to just over 51% of the vote in spite of being spent by 10-1. The district will be an open seat in 2024, as Porter has announced her candidacy for the United States Senate.
“This district has been home to my family and business for several decades and over the last year I was able to meet thousands of hard-working neighbors who want and deserve a representative focused on the needs of the district and the good of our nation,” said Baugh. “Voters are rightfully upset with the dysfunction in Washington and deserve better.
“Even though we were able to raise over $3 Million, we faced a huge spending disadvantage in 2022, but that will not happen in 2024 and I am ready to go to work to raise whatever it will take to restore thoughtful, conservative representation to our part of Orange County,” concluded Baugh.
Scott Baugh is the former Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party and former California Assembly Republican Leader. He is an active member of the community, having founded the OC Marathon Foundation, a local charity that has helped teach 40,000 young people about exercise and nutrition. Scott has also served as Chairman of the Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership which works with law enforcement throughout the county to keep kids out of gangs. He is a trustee at Pacifica Christian High School of Orange County. Scott and his wife Wendy live in Huntington Beach. He has lived in the district for over 30 years.
The coastal Orange County 47th District includes the cities of Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa and Irvine.
