Scene and Seen: Marbella on a Mission Tennis Tournament

Tennis fans gathered at Marbella Country Club in San Juan Capistrano for the third annual Marbella on a Mission tennis tournament, which raised more than $130,000 for the American Cancer Society and MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center. The competition kicked off with Friday night liveball rounds that included the JSerra Catholic High School boys and girls varsity teams, and players from St. Anne and St. Mary’s schools, as well as the T3 Wheelchair Tennis group, among other competitors.

That was followed by doubles tournament play on Saturday and Sunday. In between matches, spectators and players browsed vendor and sponsor booths, including Fenix Sporter, Sue English Tennis Temptations, Monster Energy, and Justy Cryo. “This isn’t just a tennis event, it’s a community movement of hope and resilience,” according to a statement by Amy Staley, who founded the event in 2021 in honor of her mother-in-law, Linda Staley. “Every dollar and racket we raise brings us closer to hope, healing, and a cure.”

Friends gather and smile for the camera.
