The Santa Margarita Pop Warner Cowboys youth football program experienced a unique opportunity to practice with the Tesoro Titans High School football teams at Tesoro earlier this month.

This collaborative event aimed to inspire the young athletes and provide them with a glimpse of the high school football experience.

The Cowboys, ranging in age from 5 to 14, were greeted by the towering presence of the Tesoro Titans, who were just as eager to share their knowledge and passion for the game. The high school athletes, seasoned and disciplined, took the role of mentors, guiding the younger players through a series of drills and exercises.

The practice session was planned by Tesoro Coach Mike Zangl and staff to maximize learning and enjoyment. The Cowboys, led by President Mark Graves, were divided into groups based on their age and skill level, each group paired with Titan players and coaches.

The drills focused on fundamental skills such as tackling, passing, catching and footwork. The high school players demonstrated advanced techniques, while coaches provided personalized tips to help the young Cowboys improve their game.
