Santa Ana man arrested in Irvine for stealing a motorcycle

Over the past few months, multiple stolen vehicles have been abandoned in a neighborhood in the Great Park, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Irvine’s Directed Enforcement Team (DET) and Specialized Investigation Unit (SIU) focused on the area Friday night to try to identify a suspect.

Through excellent police work, the police officers identified a man driving a stolen vehicle in the area. Obaldo Adelito Delcid Mendez, 22, of Santa Ana, was arrested and he was connected to a stolen motorcycle parked nearby.

Mendez was booked at Orange County Jail on numerous warrants and multiple charges, including possessing a stolen vehicle, narcotics offenses, and possessing burglary tools.
