Sophomore outfielder Troy Kent blasted a three-run homer over the right field fence in the first inning to give the No. 7 Santa Ana College baseball team an early lead in a 4-2 win over the No.11 El Camino Warriors (21-10) Friday afternoon.
Jaxton Andeel gave SAC another quality start as he kept the Warrior offense at bay over five innings. Despite walking four, the freshman left-hander struck out three and allowed just one hit on his way to the win.
The Dons added an insurance run in the sixth inning. Mario Tostado drove in Eddie Pelc on a single to stretch the lead to 4-1. The Santa Ana bullpen took over from there. Joey Iglesias, Matt Schavone and James Showalter finished the game allowing just one run.
With the win, the Dons (21-10) picked up their third victory during the Orange Empire Conference bye week. Santa Ana College resumes OEC play by hosting the reigning state champs in No. 1 Riverside on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
