The Santa Ana College softball team is headed to the 2022 CCCAA Softball State Championships in Bakersfield Thursday through Sunday.
Santa Ana (37-7, 20-4) punched its ticket to the championships after defeating the No. 5 seeded Long Beach Vikings (29-13, 15-6) two games to none in the second round of the CCCAA SoCal Regionals last weekend.
The Dons will be one of eight teams in the state participating in the double-elimination style tournament and will open with a matchup against the North No. 2 seed in the Butte College Roadrunners (43-1, 20-0) on Thursday, May 19 at 8 p.m.
Butte is expected to be a tough matchup as the team only lost one game all year while leading the state in runs scored with 381. The squad has a .381 batting average, second best in the state.
But 2022 NFCA California JC Pitcher of the Year Emily Rosas of Santa Ana College has proved she hold her own against the best in the state.
