A familiar coach will be back on the sidelines next week when Woodbridge faces Northwood in a nonleague football game at Portola.
Former Woodbridge head coach Rick GIbson, who retired from the school in 2020, is back as an assistant football coach to help head coach Aaron Craver, the coach who succeeded Gibson. Gibson said he will coach the offensive line.
Gibson, who coached the Warriors for 32 years, added this week that he will also fill the role of athletic director to replace Brian Walsh, the former athletic director who left to take a similar position at Corona del Mar.
Gibson was also the athletic director at Woodbridge before retiring.
“I am the AD for the school year and we will make a decision going forward after that,” Gibson said Friday. “I am excited for the year. A number of the same coaches (are at Woodbridge) and working for (principal) Chris Krebs is the best.”
