Saturday’s Re:Imagine Garden Grove Open Streets event brought upwards of 35,000 residents and visitors to Garden Grove, surpassing the attendance to previous Open Streets events. The 2.2-mile route was closed to cars and open for people to walk, bike, skate, scooter, or ride, while enjoying a number of free activities, attractions, entertainment, and more.
“It was fantastic to see thousands of people coming together to celebrate our local community and culture. This event gave everyone the opportunity to see how much we’ve done to reimagine our civic center and downtown area,” said Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones.
The 2.2-mile route traveled from downtown Garden Grove to the city’s new Medal of Honor Bike and Pedestrian Trail. One of the highlights of Saturday’s event was a surprise appearance by Mayor Steve Jones in the Lucha Libre arena on Euclid Street and Acacia Parkway. The route also featured the annual Re:Imagine Garden Grove Art in the Park program featuring the Garden Grove Unified School District’s First Impressions Student Art Gallery, a Ferris wheel, live music, food trucks, and more.
