High school baseball coaches and players in Orange County continue to wait for better weather to resume their schedules.
The rainy weather played havoc again on Tuesday. Among the games postponed was the Santa Ana vs. Estancia Orange Coast League game. It was originally scheduled to be played at Estancia, then coaches Dave Silva (Santa Ana) and Nate Goellrich (Estancia) tried to move the game to Santa Ana.
But the Santa Ana field was not playbable, Silva said. As it turned out, more rain came into the area again Tuesday about 4 p.m.
So now the teams have scheduled a doubleheader Friday at noon at Santa Ana. Santa Ana will also face St. Margaret’s Saturday at 11 a.m. in a makeup game at home Silva added.
Also on Tuesday, Sunny Hills game with La Mirada was cancelled and no make-up date was announced.
Coaches in the Pacific Coast League are making adjustments with games scheduled on Thursday, including the University at Northwood game. It’s possible that game will be moved to Friday if the Northwood field is not playable, according to Northwood Coach Doug Euper.
It looks like Northwood and University will play a doubleheader Saturday, but the location has not been determined. Northwood is supposed to be the home team for two of the three games with University this year.
League-leading Woodbridge is scheduled to meet Laguna Hills in a three-game series beginning Thursday at Laguna Hills. The teams are also scheduled to meet Friday at Ryan Lemmon Stadium and Saturday at Laguna Hills.
Irvine is scheduled to play at Beckman Thursday in the first of a three-game series.
Foothill’s game with Brea Olinda on Monday was postponed. The Knights are scheduled to host l Modena Thursday.
Not many games have been played. On Monday night, Huntington Beach defeated Laguna Beach 3-2 in 10 innings at Huntington Beach.
More rain is possible Wednesday which could complicate the schedules because of field conditions. It appears that the weather improves heading into the weekend.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
