Placentia’s Bronco all-stars were excited about their 10-8 comeback victory over Santa Ana Saturday in the regional tournament that helped the team clinch a berth in next week’s super regional.

“I liked it, it was amazing,” said Caden Smith, who closed out the game on the mound. “It was very big for all the players (the home runs), good timing for them.”

“I think we needed to put more runs on the board, we didn’t play our game today, we played Santa Ana’s game,” said Grady Klovstad, who had a double. “Luckily, we got the win and now we’re moving to super regionals.”

“I feel like we left too many runners on base, we’re both power teams, we’re both offensive teams but we also have a lot of good pitchers and I feel we both excecuted good,” said Dean Clewett, who had an RBI in the fifth inning.

“I was fully aware of that (the team was going to super regionals) and I realized once we won, I was super happy but I think when we play South Bay …. we need to execute our pitches and at bats much better than we did today,” said Andrew Churney, who had a single in the sixth inning.

Ben Hansen, who had a home run in the second inning, talked about the adjustment he made at the plate.

“The first pitch I was late on it so I knew I had to start earlier and I had a feeling from the at bats before me he was pitching inside so I backed off the plate a little bit and started earlier and I turned on it and it was gone,” Hansen said.
