Santiago players and coaches celebrate after winning the CIF title Saturday. (Photos courtesy Mark Bausman, For OC Sports Zone).
Santiago High School’s boys basketball team, in its first trip to a CIF championship for the program, came home with a championship.
The Cavaliers defeated Ramona 64-49 Saturday morning at the Toyota Arena in Ontario in the CIF 4AA championship game.

“Winning today was an absolutely surreal feeling,” said Santiago Coach Matt Moorhouse later in the day. “I’m so proud of our team and happy for the school, alumni and community, The players rose to the occasion, stayed focused and simply played basketball. We weren’t perfect, but we did what was necessary to get the win.
“A great day for Santiago High School.”
Jorden De La Mora led Santiago (22-11) with 28 points. He made 4 of 6 3-pointers. Jayden Baude had 12 points and seven rebounds and Jerell Guidry 10 points and six rebounds.
Santiago made 22 of 45 field goal attempts (48 percent).
Ramona (26-7) was led by Andrew Green, who had 14 points and Troy Terrell who had 13 points.
Both teams are headed to the CIF Southern California Regionals next week.
