The Olive Pony Hurricanes 8-and-under youth baseball team captured the super regional championship in dramatic fashion to defeat a tough West Covina all-stars Pinto Red 8-and-under team.

The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh when Olive’s Eric Guerra singled on a 0-2 count, driving in the go ahead run for the 4-3 victory.

The Hurricanes captured the district, section, regional and super regional championships going 16-1 on their way to the Pony West Zone World Series beginning on Thursday in Rodeo, CA.

Olive will face Marina Thursday at 3 p.m. in the opener. The championship game will be Sunday, July 16 at either noon or 2 p.m.
