Crean Lutheran’s football team capped an undefeated regular season and perfect run in the Epsilon League defeating Laguna Hills 50-7 Thursday night at Laguna Hills to capture the league championship.

The Saints (10-0, 5-0) will be the league’s top representative in the CIF playoffs that begin next week.

It’s the first league title for Coach Rick Curtis at Crean Lutheran.

“The first outright large schools league championship in school history,” Curtis said. “First regular season 10-0 record in school history.”

Crean Lutheran shared a championship in 2015 in the Academy League, a small schools league, Curtis said.

The defense, led by Anthony Jones, Ryder Barnes, Toa Nansen and James Carrington, was outstanding, the coach said.

Saints quarterback Caden Jones threw four touchdown passes. Bryce Young had several key receptions and a touchdown, Ty Johnson had two receiving touchdowns, Luca Amaya had two rushing touchdowns, Caleb Bey had a rushing touchdown and Tiaga Takada had a receiving TD.

“We give all the Glory to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Curtis said. “Honoring Him is our purpose. The process that we have established has driven our results and we have been blessed with a championship. We are excited about finishing the regular season 10-0 and in capturing the Epsilon League championship. Our goal now shifts to the CIF playoffs and our quest for a CIF championship.”

Laguna Hills (3-7 overall) finished league play 0-5.
