Charles Sparks breaks into the open for a big gain Friday night for Calvary Chapel. (Photos courtesy Bill Russell).
Calvary Chapel High School’s football team, coached by Jack McInally, opened the season Friday night with a 56-0 victory over Azusa at Segerstrom.
The Eagles had 346 offensive yards and 507 all-purpose yards.

Junior quarterback Matt Peters led the way, completing 9 of 13 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 77 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns.
Junior Charles Sparks had six rushes for 74 yards, senior Gavin Ghahyasi had four receptions for 53 yards and senior Jackson Pelkofer had three catches for 42 yards and a TD.
Sparks had 112 yards receiving and a TD and a 55-yard punt return for TD.
