An effort is underway to memorialize our beloved Sam Rubin on the iconic Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame.

A petition launched on Change.org Tuesday calls for 200 fans to sign up in support of Sam receiving a coveted WOF star.

“Please sign this petition and forward to everyone that is still mourning him,” the change.org petition reads.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which manages the Walk of Fame, accepts nominations annually.

This year’s submission deadline is Friday, May 31 at noon, according to the walkoffame.com website.

The criteria for receiving a star consists of professional achievement, longevity in the category of five years or more and contributions to the community.

While Sam should easily meet all of those standards, posthumous awards also require a two-year waiting period after death, according to the website.

Sam passed away on May 10 of this year, so the Chamber of Commerce would have to make a huge, if not unprecedented exception, to award a star to Sam this soon.

Throughout his decadeslong career, Sam earned numerous Emmy awards. He was named Best Entertainment Reporter by the Los Angeles Press Club and received a Golden Mike Award. In 2013, he was honored by the National Hispanic Media Coalition with its Impact Award for Outstanding Integrity in Broadcast Journalism.

Off the air, Sam supported a wide range of non-profit organizations and took particular pride in organizing KTLA’s team for the annual MS 150 Bay to Bay Bike Tour, a premiere cycling event that raises funds to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.
