According to a bulletin sent out by the University of California’s Coyote Cacher, on Thursday, February 16, a resident of Cypress reported that he went outside around 12:30 a.m. to investigate loud noise.
The resident found that a coyote had attacked a white cat wearing a pink collar, killing the cat.
The resident yelled and screamed at the coyote in an attempt to intimidate it, but the coyote turned aggressive.
Animal control was notified.
The incident occurred in the residential area west of Valley View Street, south of Orange Avenue, east of Oak Knoll Park, and north of Cypress High School.
The City of Cypress encourages anyone who encounters coyotes to report the encounter to UC’s Coyote Cacher.
