Pajama clad robber from LA arrested by the Irvine Police

A Los Angeles man, Angelo Sage, 20-years-old, was arrested by the Irvine Police on robbery and burglary charges.

Sage has been living in Irvine since August.

The Irvine Police were able to identify and track Sage down with help from social media tips after he was featured in a #WANTEDWEDNESDAY post.

The IPD thanks those who provided information and tips on this case.

Original post: —Over the last two months, this man is suspected of stealing money from cash register drawers at seven businesses in Irvine.

He conducts small cash transactions, and when the cash drawer opens, he snatches money and runs away.

In some cases, the suspect used force to grab the cash. The suspect has worn pajama pants during multiple incidents.

In California, stealing cash from businesses using force is considered robbery under Penal Code Section 211. Robbery is always charged as a felony and can carry severe penalties. Here are the key points:

  • First-degree robbery (e.g., robbery of an inhabited dwelling, a driver or passenger of a vehicle, or someone using an ATM) can result in 3, 4, or 6 years in state prison.
  • Second-degree robbery (all other types of robbery) can result in 2, 3, or 5 years in state prison.

Given the use of force and the repeated nature of the offenses, the penalties could be more severe, potentially including additional charges or enhancements.
