The Pacific Coast Conference consisting of two four-team football leagues has some changes for the 2022 season, according to Mark Cunningham, Irvine Unified School District Athletic Director.
“At the end of the season there is a meeting involving the head football coaches and then meetings with the athletic directors to make a final decision,” Cunningham said.
The conference alignment began for the abbreviated spring season in 2021 and then the fall 2021 campaign. Laguna Hills and Dana Hills joined the six schools who were in the Pacific Coast League to form the conference.
Teams play four intra-conference games and then finish the season with three league games.
Irvine captured the Pacific Hills League title last year while Northwood won the Pacific Valley League crown. Under the new alignment, both Northwood and Irvine will be in the same league.
Teams will be divided this year into the Pacific Coast and Pacific Hills leagues, Cunningham added.
