Over 50 guinea pigs and a few birds were rescued in Westminster

Westminster animal control officers recently made a significant impact by assisting in a rescue with Wee Companions Small Animal Adoption, taking in over 50 guinea pigs and a few birds from a residence.

During the rescue operation, animal control officer Cyrstal Sheldon was able to corral Crystal, a wild guinea pig featured on the Wee Companions Small Animal Adoption page, who was caught while running amuck in the yard. Crystal the guinea pig was named after her rescuer!

Guinea pigs originated in the Andes region of South America, where wild guinea pigs can still be found today, according to Wikipedia. They are considered a delicacy in In the valleys and plains of the Andes, according to Wikipedia.

Wee Companions is hosting an Open House on Oct. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the UC Marketplace Shopping Center, located at 3310 Governor Drive, in San Diego. The event will inculde items for sale from Fur, Fins & Feathers.
