A local food service company that makes dressings, frying oils and sauces for dozens of restaurant chains is relocating its headquarters to Irvine’s Spectrum Terrace, more than doubling its current space in Brea.

Ventura Foods, whose portfolio includes brands such as LouAna Cooking Oil and Hidden Valley Ranch, told the Business Journal that it is leaving its 25,000-square-foot corporate office in Brea for a larger, 60,000-square-foot space at 17800 Laguna Canyon Road. The company could be ready to move into the new space by summer.

The company plans to transfer all 120 employees at the Brea corporate office to the new Irvine location, where they will work on the third and fourth floors.

Susan Stewart, the executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Ventura Foods, said the timing was right to relocate because it plans to grow.

“Like many companies post-pandemic, we had space that was under-utilized. Also, our lease was expiring,” Stewart told the Business Journal.

Ventura Foods currently leases more than 25,000 square feet at 40 Pointe Drive in Brea, according to CoStar data. The five-floor office building is owned by Newport Beach-based Olen Properties, with CBRE managing the property’s leasing.

Ventura Foods would share the 115,293-square-foot office building at Spectrum Terrace with Apple, according to CoStar.

Stewart said Ventura Foods implemented a “rigorous selection process” in deciding to leave its current space at Olen Pointe Brea Office Park. The company considered about 100 different locations before selecting Spectrum Terrace, she added.

The two floors are being designed from scratch with employee input.

Ventura Foods also has offices in Canada, Mexico and Singapore, plus 14 manufacturing plants, three culinary centers and several distribution facilities.

The food service company was founded in 1996 as a joint venture between Mitsui & Co. and CHS Inc. following the merger of Holsum Foods and Wilsey Foods.

Some of the products offered by Ventura Foods include Hidden Valley Buffalo Ranch, a variety of Sauce Craft sauces, Classic Gourmet Select Real Mayonnaise, Grandioso Garlic Dipping Sauce, Chef’s Pride Canola Clear Frying Oil and White Cap Bakery Release Spray.

The company works with foodservice and retail businesses, including 80 of the top 100 restaurant chains in the U.S.
