Orange County Rescue Mission is urgently seeking help from the local community to donate multiple food items to help feed some of the nearly 300,000 food-insecure individuals throughout Orange County.
According to Jim Palmer, President of Orange County Rescue Mission, the organization is in dire need of several basic food items to provide to hungry families throughout the county.
“While exacerbated by the pandemic, food insecurity has long been and remains a major problem in this country, impacting millions of individuals in Southern California alone,” says Palmer. “In fact, in Orange County, there are 50,919 families below the poverty line, many of whom do not know where their next meal is coming from. Orange County Rescue Mission is committed to providing 400 food boxes every month to families to alleviate this need.”
Palmer adds that with the help of the local community, within the last year, Orange County Rescue Mission has provided 234,958 meals to families struggling with food insecurity.
For those who are in a position to donate and help the Rescue Mission provide basic food items to struggling families in Orange County, below are some recommended items to fill each food box:
Canned Food:
- Tomato Paste
- Tomato Sauce
- Diced Tomatoes
- Pinto Beans
- Kidney Beans

Boxed/Bagged Food:

“Each and every year, we are continuously amazed by the generosity of the local community,” says Palmer. “In addition to helping the residents at our facilities, we are committed to serving the families in need throughout Orange County and could not do it without the help of charitable community members. We are eternally grateful.”
