The international GIS company Esri this week presented the Orange County Registrar of Voters with a 2022 Esri Special Achievement in GIS Award at its annual User Conference for the Registrar of Voters’ innovative use of Esri GIS technology to optimize election processes and operations.
Esri, a supplier of GIS software, location intelligence, and mapping, on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 recognized the Registrar of Voters’ success in using Esri’s GIS technology for redistricting, Voter Center location analysis, ADA compliance, ballot security, Voter Center site selection, language assistance allocation through GIS data collection, shipping, logistics, and visualization of election specific data.
Led by a collaborative team consisting of members from multiple Registrar of Voters departments, this project demonstrated higher efficiency and accuracy across several areas of the election administration process. In particular, using Survey123 and ArcGIS Dashboards for data collection and visualization reduced the number of staff needed to monitor and transport ballots. It resulted in an increase in both the quantity and quality of ballot location information by providing near-real-time data, which allows the Registrar of Voters team to track ballots from where they are cast or dropped off to their arrival in our office for processing.
More details of our GIS project/application can be found on Esri’s website at https://events.esri.com/conference/sagList.
